You've Got This!!

I was thinking about something the other day that I wanted to share with you.
When I was 17, I got into my dream school and program - Physical Therapy at Ithaca College. I had wanted it for years. I was so excited… until I found out I had to take a public speaking class. I didn’t tell anyone how scared I was, but I ended up changing my entire major because of it. Looking back, I still can’t believe that one small fear shifted my path like that.
Fast forward 19 years - I’m driving to teach my very first HIIT class. And guess what? Same feelings. Racing heart, dry mouth, sweaty palms. But this time, I did something different. I said it out loud: “I’m really nervous.” And then I stayed.
Within a few minutes, something shifted. I settled in. I saw people smiling. I felt it - I could do this. By the end, I knew I had found something that truly lit me up.
Same body. Same signals. Completely different response.
It’s made me think a lot about how we interpret those feelings. That rush in your body isn’t always something to run from. Sometimes it’s your system gearing up, getting ready, saying, “You’ve got this.”
What feels like fear can actually be excitement, readiness, possibility.
I guess what I’m trying to say is… maybe the goal isn’t to get rid of those feelings, but to learn how to stay with them.
Because on the other side of that discomfort? There might be something really good waiting.
