Did you know that your head weighs approximately 12 pounds and that for every inch your head tilts forward, the pressure on your spine doubles? When you sit and look at your phone, does your head tilt forward? Most likely that’s a big, fat YES. Are you at around 45 degrees? If so then your head is putting about 50 pounds of pressure on your cervical spine. Every single day I see people on their cell phones walking, sitting, and standing with their heads bent forward and I find it super hard to restrain myself from closing the gap and using my hands to realigning their posture, to be honest.
Text neck is a real thing that we have to consider and combat. Stand tall, sit tall and walk tall, with shoulder blades pulled into your ribcage, chest aimed up and out, ears away from your shoulders and the top of your head to zenith. I'm sure that none of us hope and dream and wish of being 80 and hunched. Realign yourself and your loved ones and then power pose the shit out of life!
