Bathe Your Brain

Have you ever heard of BDNF? BDNF, or brain-derived neurotrophic factor, is a protein produced inside nerve cells. This specific protein has been shown to improve the function of neurons, encourages their growth, and strengthens/protects them against premature cell death. Obviously we want more of this protein in our brain but what happens when there is a lack of BDNF? Decreased levels have been associated with a variety of neurological/mental conditions such as alzheimer’s, epilepsy, anxiety, anorexia nervosa, depression, schizophrenia, and OCD.

Here’s the question of the day: How do we increase our BDNF levels? Research shows that exercise is the fastest and most effective way to boost this healing protein!

Boost your BDNF this week with me in any or all of these sweaty sessions:

Monday - HIIT at Woodstock Rec - 8:15-9:15 am

Tuesday - PiYo at Woodstock Rec - 8:15-9:15 am

Thursday - PiYo at The Athletic Club - 12-1 pm

Friday - HIIT at Woodstock Rec - 8:15-9:15 am

Bathe your brain in BDNF,

Jody
