šEveryone Is Just Doing Their Bestš

Years ago, I learned about something called the spotlight effect - the idea that we think people are paying way more attention to us than they actually are. The truth is, most people are too busy worrying about how they look, sound, or come across to be judging anyone else. From a nervous system standpoint, this belief keeps us stuck in a low-level stress response, scanning for threat that isnāt really there.
Realizing that is super freeing. It kind of loosens the grip of ego and imagined judgement and helps the body settle and soften. We stop walking into rooms like weāre on stage and remember that everyone else is just trying to feel okay too. Big, fat freeing win!!!
As we move into the solstice and the shift in light, itās a lovely time to let go of the shit that doesnāt serve us - less self scrutiny, more safety and ease. Less How am I being seen? and more Who around me could use a little kindness, a little love, a helping hand?
When we let our nervous system know weāre safe, we feel more connected and more free. Thatās the kind of light worth sharing during these shorter days.
With so much love to each of you,
Jode xo
