One Workout Away!
This week has been tricky. With the time change, darker mornings, and other “life” things, it’s been harder to peel back the covers each morning. But I did it, just like you do it. One foot in front of the other until I’m chugging along with my day. That’s the way of life. Sometimes it feels pretty darn easy, but at times it can also feel like a lot. Do you know what gets me out of bed on those hard days though? Responsibilities? Yes, absolutely. But also truly helpful is that thought of my future self and how that self will feel.
This week just wasn’t my best and it kind of all culminated into a Friday morning with an anxious and overwhelmed brain. But I did what I had to do. I peeled away the covers, took one step and then another and found my way to HIIT - my happy place, with happy people who support me in lots of ways - and then moved and sweat and sang my way through an hour of love. And in doing so, I was able to move my mind away from those anxious and annoying thoughts. Working out makes me happy. Exercising makes me feel lighter. Moving makes me put things into perspective.
The next time you finish up your workout ask yourself one question. How do I feel right now? I’m almost positive none of you will say “Hmmmmm, I feel pretty shitty.” I’ll bet you a hundred bucks that your response will be “I feel happy and proud and clear!!!” Then lock those positive feelings away and remember them on the hard mornings. Channel your future self, remember that post workout feeling, and then grab your sneakers.
