We’ve all been there before: not enough sleep, maybe feeling a little under the weather, or having too little time. Why do we still make time for a workout then? I know! Because we feel better - both mentally and physically - after a good exercise session. We feel clear and strong and refreshed and able!
There is a connection between exercise and the brain. I know personally that without exercise I tend to not be as sweet and patient with my family and let me tell you, they know when I need to get a good sweat sesh in. Exercise is a mood booster because when you get your heart rate up, your brain releases two types of neurotransmitters - endorphins and serotonin.
Endorphins are responsible for that feel-good sensation after a solid workout and are also the body’s internal painkiller. Serotonin makes us feel good too but unlike endorphins, which block pain to produce pleasure, serotonin promotes pleasure itself.<
