☀️Action First, Motivation Follows☀️

SoulShiners,

One belief that gets a lot of air time is this:

“I just can’t find the motivation.”

“I’ll start when I feel more ready.”

It sounds harmless…..but I think it actually keeps people stuck.

Because if you’re tired, stressed, or low, you’re way less likely to do the thing that might help shift that state.

I’ve been running a simple experiment in my classes for about a year now - asking people how they feel before and after movement.

And every single time something improves.

Anxiety eases.

Low energy lifts.

Stress lightens.

Joy increases.

It’s made me wonder if we’ve had it backwards.

Maybe it’s not:

feel motivated and then take action

Maybe it’s:

take action and then motivation follows

Even just a little.

The language use matters too.

“I’m not feeling it.”

“I’m off track.”

Those phrases create a story where we wait to feel good before doing something that could actually help us feel better.

So what if we shift that, just a bit?

What if instead of waiting we get curious….

“What’s one small thing I can do anyway?”

And maybe - just maybe - that small step is enough to change how you feel.

Move the body, calm the mind.

Love,

Jode xo 💛
