Life is a balancing act!! Each day we try to balance work with play, and our home lives with our careers. The body is busy balancing as well…energy! Energy intake and energy output influences energy stores, such as body fat and lean body mass.
Energy balance = Calories consumed - Calories expended
A positive energy balance results in weight gain and conversely, a negative energy balance results in weight loss. Finding a balance between intake and output throughout life is the cornerstone of maintaining a healthy weight, which is linked to numerous longevity-related benefits. Achieving this balance, although seemingly straightforward, can be very challenging.
If you are trying to lose weight and are having a hard time dropping pounds, try journaling all of your food and liquid throughout the day. This method can be very eye opening and will most likely reveal to you places where you can improve, so that you can start decreasing your calories consumed. Increase your calories expended by moving your body!!! Go to an exercise class, get outside and explore, or find an online workout. You can do this!!!
